ANDREAS PANAGOPOULOS
Team leader and Pinios pilot leader
Geologist, M.Sc. & Ph.D. in Hydrogeology. Research Director at the Soil and Water Resources Institute of the Hellenic Agricultural Organisation. He shares experience on hydrological modelling, water resources management, assessment, characterization and monitoring, and has offered consultancy services in the implementation of various Directives, including the Water Framework Directive, the Groundwater Daughter Directive and the Nitrates Directive. He has worked in the implementation of numerous R&D projects, and has authored and co-authored over 190 scientific papers, and 5 book chapters
VASSILIOS PISINARAS
SWRI project manager
Environmental Engineer, Ph.D. in Water Resources Management and Hydrology and M.Eng. in Environmental Engineering. Senior Researcher at the Soil and Water Resources Institute of the Hellenic Agricultural Organisation. His research interests focus on hydrologic-hydrogeologic modelling, agricultural water management and irrigation scheduling, water monitoring, and climate change impact assessment on water resources. He is the Head Scientist of Pinios Hydrologic Observatory. He has participated in 25 research projects focused in water resources management and irrigation, and he has authored and co-authored 90 publications
PASCHALIS DALAMBAKIS
Researcher on agriculture and environment
Geologist, Ph.D. in volcanology and geothermal energy, and D.E.A. in Geothermal energy research and applications. Senior Researcher at the Soil and Water Resources Institute of the Hellenic Agricultural Organisation in low-enthalpy geothermal energy applications in the agricultural sector. His main research interests include environmental design and protection of geothermal projects, energy planning, thermodynamic investigations, operational support of low-enthalpy geothermal energy projects in agricultural sector of high energy consumption, and exploitation of shallow geothermal energy in the agricultural sector
EVANGELOS HATZIGIANNAKIS
Researcher on agriculture and food economy
Agronomist, Research Director at the Soil and Water Resources Institute of the Hellenic Agricultural Organisation. His research interests focus on open channels flow, irrigation networks, precision irrigation and water and soil resources management. He has participated in more than 70 research projects; in over 30 of them acting as coordinator or scientific responsible of the project or the SWRI team. He heads the physicochemical determinations in Soil – Water – Plant Tissue samples, ISO 17025 accredited laboratory of the Institute
DIMITRIOS MALAMATARIS
Researcher on water resources and environment
Civil Engineer, Ph.D. in Hydrology and water resources, M.Sc. in Environmental protection and sustainable development, and M.Eng. in Hydraulics and environmental engineering. He is Research Associate at the Soil and Water Resources Institute of the Hellenic Agricultural Organisation. His research interests and experience include the advanced study of coupled hydrological systems, modelling of surface and groundwater flow, projection of climate change impacts on water resources, flood inundation modelling, international environmental policies analysis, and water resources management
